This wound up being far less violent than I was thinking. I had been thinking they were going to start a spoke war, not use an existing one.

Smart idea... but lacking knowledge of what is really going on in there.

Those areas will be highly dangerous. I sense we are jumping out of the frying pan, and into the fire.

Think about it - if trade across these zones was so dangerous, then commodities from one side to the other would be incredibly valuable and traders will always go for profitable trade - no matter how dangerous.

No Sam, I think this is one of the more insane and dangerous ideas you're about to embark on...

He's not saying that trade gets through. Nothing organized. Smugglers I wouldn't really call trade, though it is in a way, and yes, you're right. Whatever gets brought in would go for a HUGE profit.

Smuggling is a form of 'impeded trade' according to financial models. Very much the same as legal trade subject to punitive tariffs, except for some variations in how and where the money reenters the economy.

Being desperate enough to plan an escape route directly through the front line of a war zone.... That's quite the proposition. Not something to undertake lightly.
